Poems Relating To Sayings and Slogans In General
Poems Relating To "One Day At A Time"
Poems Relating To "Easy Does It"
- "Time
To Ease 'Er Back A Bit" (Feb/13/15) As we get older,
we have many adjustments to make to our lifestyle.
Remembering we are not as agile as we once were is a
challenge at times. Accepting life change is all part of
self acceptance in recovery. A fall on a slippery slope at
night reminded me of this fact.
- "
Just Stop " - June/26/10Sometimes we need to just
stop.
Poems Relating To "Let Go and Let God"
- "The
Gasket" (Feb/11/15) Being in a cross-cultural
situation as a 'bridge person" or "gasket between two plates
in a motor" involves a lot of heat and pressure, and calls
for us to lie still and let God work through the situation
as He wishes to (or not). The gasket image is from my
personal quest, reflecting the discovery that "Apostle"
originally meant one who Jesus trained to go over their
comfortable cultural walls into a cross-cultural situation,
that is, they were to be cultural boundary jumpers. There is
a high cost to such activity - always.
- "What
Grace Today?" (Feb/12/15) When we combine work in a
cross cultural context with the work of recovery It can get
confusing. Sometimes it is not our move.
Poems Relating To "Faith is A Lighted Doorway; But Trust Is
A Dark Hall"
Poems Relating To "Sobriety is a journey ..........not a
destination"
Poems Relating To The Serenity Prayer (A) - God grant me the
serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
- "
First Steps " - Aug/20/09 Just like the snow covers up
things until we can finish them in the spring, life moves
on, and we have to just stop doing things sometimes. Then
when spring rolls around, these activities have often faded
in importance.
- "
Each Day " - Sept/11/09 Sometimes we have to let
situations go and let God handle them. Prayer then is
leaving ourselves at God's disposal in relation to the
situation, in case He thinks of something we could do
something that would give him some more room to operate
there.
Poems Relating To The Serenity Prayer (B) - The courage to
change the things I can;
Poems Relating To The Serenity Prayer (C) - And The Wisdom
to know the difference.
Poems Relating To The Serenity Prayer (D) - Amen - (An
ancient Hebrew word for "so be it")
Poems Relating To "Have A Gratitude Attitude"
Poems Relating To "Walk The Talk"
Poems Relating To "There but for the Grace of God, go I"
- "There
But For..." ( ) (Dec/14/2015) When we encounter
people who made a different choice than we made, and see
where each ended up, we often realize we had a narrow escape
from a difficult situation."
- "
The Tide Of Love " - Oct/18/09This Song was written
after hearing the story of a man who had been abused as a
boy, and had found relief through the experience of God
sweeping into his life like a rising tide and washing away
all the past debris. He said in the interview that he sees
what a narrow excape he had, and felt he had been saved from
going down a bad road in life.
Poems Relating To "Keep coming back..........it works if you
work it"
- "Course
Correction" (I Kings 19:9-18) [Northern Kingdom - Time
Insights Series #9] - (Jan/23/2016)Jesus said He was
the truth, the way and the life. Of course, if you run into a
better way, truth, or life at its best and you run into Him.
He's all over the place...I think becuse that is where we
are...all over the place...
- "
Words Cannot Speak " - Oct/24/09I went by a truck full
of University student's goods heading out to the farm around
"voluntary withdrawl deadline date" and wondered in this
poem what this boy's situation was, and how he would weather
such a change in career path. Transitions are difficult and
require a lot of community support. That is why the AA
community it there, when you need it.
Poems Relating To "Take what you need and leave the rest"
Poems Relating To "Keep On Keeping On"
- "
Completion " - Nov/11/09Keeping on doing some things
is actually harmful. It is important to know when to ease
back, and get on with life.
- "The Game" - Aug/14/12Baseball games are played in innings...you can mess up some innings and sill complete the game
Poems Relating To "Expect Miracles"
- "The
Rains Of Namaqualand" - Dec.11/11In a desert in
Africa, it is a bleak stretch of sand for months on end then
for three weeks when the rains kcome it bursts into color.
Like our lives, we sometimes feel long stretches of
bleakness, followed by a burst of miraculous life.
