Our Daily Bread [Module #60] (John 6:52-53)

This part for me is upside down
And convoluted – so with frown
Of consternation (I don’t see),
I press ahead and let it be.

For some things are quite clear at first;
Some others, clear with effort’s burst;
But some we need to grow into –
Such parts I’m now referring to.

So flag on such parts I now set;
With what I see I move, and let
The rest remain – tomorrow’s bread,
When I return, by Spirit led.

Our daily bread as we grow up
From breast, to bottle, then to cup,
Then on to Pablum, ground-up mush,
Then solid food, and meat that’s tough.

Then, towards the end, reverse sets in –
Decline we do, ’till tubes begin
To feed us with our daily bread,
While all along the Spirit’s led.

Dear Lord, please open up my eyes;
Help me to understand this guy’s
Interpretation of Your words,
For he, in crowd that day has heard –

Then lived a long productive life;
About my age, took pen to write
This Gospel we now read from him,
Though hard once we this task begin.

For what I get, I thank You Lord –
For words You spoke, and what they heard,
Passed on to us that we might feed
Upon Your life to meet our need.

Thanks Lord for this.
