"For Half The Time It's Dark"  (John 11:9-10; 1:1-18; 8:12; Matt 5:14-16; Psalms 119:105)

I took a tumble walking in the dark –
My camera smashed, I could not photos start;
I changed my lens, it worked if far away,
And clouds obscured each brilliant sunny day.

Wide-angle lenses let you view the scene,
See things up front while back shows what it means;
For context is the key to where we are,
Our micro worlds in context of the far.

The Scripture sheds its light when dark the way;
The world has light for half each dawning day,
But when night comes, as come it will for all,
We need such light – or stumble, sometimes fall.

I had not seen, ’till now, your comment, Christ,
That all do well without the Scripture’s light
Until it’s dark, then “Lamp unto our feet”
Is welcome tool, by it our paths we see.

Thanks Lord for this.
