“bajo el cielo (Beneath The Sky)” (Eccl. 3:10) [Spanish Jerusalem Bible Series - Ecclesiastes sub-series]

Lord, what I’m hearing in these words,
Is part of thought, not understood –
Relations of the Kingdom-layer
To life on earth – the point of prayer.

Like, how are we to view our place
Relating to each present case
Of swirling mess the world is in,
Caught up in ceaseless rounds of sin?

In this wee phrase I see a bit –
“Beneath the sky” – we’re part of it,
Yet not – for we’ve perspective gained
As we’ve on Kingdom-layer remained.

So all dynamics he has given,
Are part of life which You have given
For all of us – how we partake
Is choice which each of us can make.

But overarching all of us,
Is sky above, and heaven’s touch;
How life plays out is bigger than
In each one of us – in larger plan –

We can engage as body-part
Of You, O Lord, as we embark
In life anew on Kingdom-layer,
And take our parts as Kingdom players.

Lord, thanks for this perspective new,
And framework for the work I do
In this last round of life beneath
Your heavens – for it’s a great relief!

Thanks Lord for this.
