“The Shift From Loss To Flesh And Pain” (Job 2:1-4 ) [Spanish Jerusalem Bible Series - Job sub series] [Pandemic Series]

Round two ramped up, increased the pain
For Job – in trust, he did remain
Quite stoical, withheld his curse,
As life for him became much worse.

“Do anything, but kill the man”,
God said, “Then you will, if you can,
See what I see, for you don’t get
The point, there, satan, for My bet.

“For in the end, you, satan, lose –
Your evil ways, which others choose
To follow in your nasty plays,
Will end for all, at end of days.”

But in the meantime God and Job
Had thoughts to share – in end Job knows
That ’gainst old Satan He would lose,
In God was best route he could choose.

So what does Job gain in the end
(No thanks to his three mocking friends)?
Why, not so much his stash (and more),
But rather, wisdom – insight’s store.

For now, he’d seen he was no match
For Satan’s ways – first round he’d crashed
And lost it all, still puzzled – he
Then, in the end could satan see.

For if we do not factor in
Old satan, evil, human sin,
We will not see what’s going on –
God’s plan, and ways, and Kingdom-song.

Lord, thanks for this far larger view
Of heaven and earth, and Kingdom new;
Of place to stand as we engage
In life, mature – thanks for this Sage.

Thanks Lord for this.
