“Trustworthy” (Prov.3:5-6; Matt.22:36-40; Ps. 146:3; Jn.3:16) [Reflections on Ralph D. Sawyer's Translation of One Hundred Unorthodox Strategies - Battle Tactics of Chinese Warfare #81-82]

The Bible’s authors, to a man, declare
That trust of other men, to show your care,
Is foolish in extreme, for God alone
Trustworthy is – as our eternal home.

The Bible’s authors, also say that man
Has need of love, which lies beyond the span
Of us to fill such massive need ourselves;
Thus love gives opportunity, it’s felt –

To always have an option – “What could be
Some word or action which addresses need
Of others – help them get on with their lives –
Something which helps the other one to thrive?”

“Love men; trust God”, is slogan we ignore;
Trust men; love God”, is what “Religion’s” for –
Just silliness, and foolish in extreme –
A context it provides for what folks mean.

So I no longer trust what others say;
It’s noise they make as they conduct their play;
It’s “Risk-assessment” that we do, in fact,
Which varies with each situation’s tact.

So words we say are easy things to fake;
Expressed desires, and plans, prone to mistake,
Are useful as “A piece of brick-a-brac”,
Like all the rest, but I don’t take as “Fact”.

As we abide in Christ, both “Right” and “Wrong”
Are His concern – our ways, like “Noisy gongs”
And “Clanging cymbals” are a lot of fluff,
Which over time brings folks to cry “Enough!”

So, “Yes” and “No” are words to use each day,
Then shut our mouths regarding what’s in play;
There’s more afoot in actions of our lives;
Best keep our counsel, in the Savior ’bide.

Thanks Lord for this.
