“Advice” [Reflections on Book: Wm.C.King (ed) Portraits and Principles of The World's Great Men And Women Chicago: The King-Richardson Co. 1899 - #39/100]

Advice on how to handle cash
Is found in “What to do with stash
Dumped on your doorstep suddenly” –
That’s best you’ll find that’s offered thee.

He says it’s “Love”, and “Use”, and “Quest”
That twists one’s soul to hopelessness;
But then I wonder, “What else is
Perverter of a person’s biz?”

Or, better yet, “What could one love
Or use, seek after, far above
All else in life, which would defect
The same result? Then, what the heck –

It’s not the “Money”, “Wealth”, or “Stash”,
Which poses problems, lives can trash;
But rather, one’s activities
As based on one’s priorities.

Lord, what I hear is, “Bide in Me,
For if you do; work totally
On My agenda (“Mud, not kid
Who’s stuck in it”), we’ll soon be rid –

“Of problems he says always come
When one is dumped with massive sums” –
“Saul’s armor, “Too much power”, says,
“You’re playing God – back off today –

“For power, wealth, God has in spades;
We don’t – so we’re from trouble saved
As we submit ourselves to You;
Leave those two things for You to do.

Thanks Lord for this.
