“Strategic Fun” [Reflections on Ralph D. Sawyer's Translation of One Hundred Unorthodox Strategies - Battle Tactics of Chinese Warfare #71-72

Two chapters here reflect in depth
The actions used – each one the best
For times when sections each have tasks –
Viewed from the top, can alter fast.

Like five to one – go three and two;
And three to one – just one is used
To do unorthodox while two
More Orthodox their methods used.

If you don’t reunite in time,
“Entangled” is your Army’s line;
So flow of units is the key
To dealing with your enemy.

Entanglement works both ways, though,
So leaders must be in the know;
And troops alert to flags held high –
Know how to act (or else they die).

To reunite, like Sun Tzu’s “Snake”
Which end helps end – don’t hesitate
To work as one, though separately –
A larger force worked fluently.

Of course, there’s times when punching power
Calls for one force, so you can tower
Above the enemy in strength –
Then sub-divide for tasks at length.

Lord, I see both parts – satan’s tact
Dividing us to front and back,
While flanks come under pressure there,
So we get torn beyond repair.

But also I see Your ways too –
How segments act as one, in You –
Emerging, altogether, then,
Dispersing – out – then in again.

At least, I see that we could be
In You a threat to enemy
As You take on the evil one
And pour out love – strategic fun!

A million Yankee men once marched;
Then women too – they both embarked
To “Power-play” the government
With peaceful protest – not what’s meant –

For here, I see a million strong
Exuding love in face of wrong;
More like that caper – Yellow Star –
“Let’s all display it – one we are”.

So, Lord, I’m hearing “Normal” ways
To organize in You these days
Are way beyond what heretofore
Has crossed my mind – it’s so much more.

Thanks Lord for this.
