“Word Plays” [Reflections on Ralph D. Sawyer's Translation of One Hundred Unorthodox Strategies - Battle Tactics of Chinese Warfare – #3]

A play on words fed in by me
At Your behest, on bended knee,
Had played a part I later thought,
In courtroom scam, as well it ought.

They’d asked for witnesses – a list;
I quoted you from Scripture – this
Was just the opening tête-à-tête –
She checked it out, real-time, with set –

Of questions – “Have an Advocate?”
“Why yes” – “What is his name?” – On plate
She served me – I could see quite plain –
“Christ”, was reply, from Hebrews came –

Your great reply – she fumbled pen,
Stroked through reply (‘twas cut), and then
They went on with their tête-à-tête –
Seed planted which she’d not forget.

Lord, that’s example of “Dead Spies”,
Who plant Your info ’neath their eyes
In ways that split them from the lies
Of evil one, whom You despise.

I see we do not need to know
All this and that before we go
And do Your bidding – rest assured –
You see, and know the world’s absurd.

So as You said, “Do not prepare,
But rather, to your God repair,
And clear the phone-lines, to and fro,
Then special time you’ll come to know.

There are five types of spies Tsu said,
And one of those, is good as dead;
But You go further – we’ve all died,
Been raised to Kingdom, by Your side.

Which opens up full range of acts
Based on Your knowledge of the facts;
Thanks Lord for these exciting times;
Help us to bide in You through time.

Thanks Lord for this.
