“Fake News” [Reflections on Sun Tsu's Art Of War #13-1–C-4]

“Fake news”, the buzzword of our times,
Is ancient – it’s here Sun Tsu finds
Type four of his five kinds of spies;
This one is one where our guy dies.

At base, it’s fabricated yarn,
Designed to cause opponent harm,
By zigging where he thinks we’ll zag –
False information’s in his bag.

Of course, when it’s discovered,
Then, the fellow gets killed off – so send
“Expendable” liaison there,
As a rug from under him you’ll tear.

The guy is blind to what’s afoot;
He’s honestly deceptive – hooked
Into a game where he’s the pawn;
Too late he sees that he is gone.

That says to me weigh spirits met –
Not all they say, sincerely yet,
Is true, for some are victims too
Of obfuscating trumped-up news.

Thanks Lord for this.
