“It’s In The Training Not The Field” (Matthew 13) [Sun Tsu series 9 – 22]

“Submit” (or not) is seed that’s sown
At training time, and then it’s grown
To full maturity in end;
By adulthood it will not bend.

Consistency makes habits form,
So actions flow by way of norm;
For soldiers are just people here;
Well-trained, they’ll fight, despite their fear.

If there is no consistency
In training, you’ll no habit see;
Submission or obedience
Will absent be – which makes no sense –

For men of action in a corps,
As “unit” works, to do much more
Than by themselves – it’s synergy
That’s harnessed for joint-energy.

When men and leaders have one mind,
Much more gets done, and you will find
In satisfaction, confidence,
There’s victory and strong defense.

When fuss is made o’er minor goofs,
Or vacillating with the troops,
The confidence in orders given
Is sapped in troops here under heaven.

Seedtime and harvest; soil to grow;
Oak trees from acorns, we all know,
Is geometric, but takes time –
That’s why we’re trained ’fore marching time.

Church of our Savior after war,
Tried to develop something more
Than what was standard church-ly fare,
With good results – deploying care.

But that was minor, off to side;
Inspiring, but folks could decide
To buy or not – most did not to bite,
So it went silent into night.

In this I now see better fit –
How Washington could blend of bit
With Sun Tsu’s stuff, and insight Paul’s –
Another step from Adam’s fall.

I’m seeing now a better way
Than all the efforts in their day;
Lord, as I move along from here,
Please help our life in You appear.

Thanks Lord for this.
