“When It’s Our Name You Call” (Song of Solomon 2:04; Exodus 17:04; Psalm 121; 18:2; Romans 8:28; Judges chapter 6-8; Matthew 5:14; Proverbs 18:10)

It’s like a dance – too rigid moves don’t work;
Stay flexible – opponent’s hard at work
Assessing, reassessing what’s afoot;
Keep options open – take a second look.

If things should change, how would your scene appear?
Who holds the hills? High mountains? What appears
To be an “Off-beat change? Are you prepared
To step aside, thus need not be repaired?

Attack, engage, or intercept, confront,
Well-ordered ranks with banners out in front,
Foolhardy is – they’ve maxed their optioned moves;
They’re flexible, experience will prove.

Do not attack, or strike ordered arrays,
Formations regulated multi-ways,
For perfect order speaks of optioned moves –
They deke like football scrimmage ’fore they choose.

So that’s the art of changing circumstance –
Address the obvious – do not advance
Against the odds when clear right from the start;
Adhere to fundamentals of this art.

For using force is more than using “force”;
“Terrain” is one example of a source
Of added assets to one side, or both;
Don’t let him use such assets – slack the rope.

Don’t fight uphill when he has higher ground;
Do not retreat downhill when he’s around;
When he attacks downhill, do not oppose;
Backs to the higher ground, good leader knows –

Is strength, for it gives opportunity
To you, and not to others; soon there’ll be
A chance to add terrain to strength you’ve got;
So practice using this ’fore fortune knocks.

The Kingdom-layer is higher ground for all,
Though in the light of day we seems so small;
It’s like a tower – place for us to be;
Our rock and fortress – God protecting me.

You said, O Lord, “A city on a Hill
Cannot be hid” – the same is true here still;
We are arrayed by You; in life deployed
Where Your work can be done – so we avoid –

The impetus to charge out on our own;
We’re in a team, we need not act alone;
In You, O Lord, we are that bright array
With banners overhead, which clearly say –

“In Christ alone, we stand and win the day”;
“Love is our song of songs”; “In God, we pray
That we can be responsive most of all
To You, O Lord, when it’s our name You call.

Thanks Lord for this.
