“Losing The Culture’s Plot Line” [Daily Quote Series – a series of quotations I Come across and email to myself, for later reflection.]

As fiction-writer, I would say,
We all at some point lose our way,
Stand back and pick the trail up, then
Re-start, and turn where road makes bend.

First quote I used for daily boost
Said West’s society’s cut loose
From moorings – plot it’s lost again,
And needs to veer from needless pain.

Mass media will lead astray
(He claims), if we indulge each day
In excess doses of the news;
Or entertainment we there choose.

He says we shape reality
Into a tunnel – more for me
A “Hawser” I am braiding forth
From strands of life – of far more worth –

Because my image holds a mix
Of streams that blend like River’s tricks;
But more than that, mine interweaves
Each fibered part – fresh meaning leaves.

So media has shelf-life too –
Like fiber-threads in hawser new;
Re-purposed emails – sent to self
With daily quotes pulled off the shelf –

Which others garner, then lay out
For us to scan, reflect about,
As we pursue our daily round,
Enriched by treasures they have found.

I limit news and a TV screen,
But Internet has richer seems
Of gold amidst the slag, for me
To draw on – see what I can see.

Pop culture to a TCK
Of Creenglish blend and Kingdom-way,
Is challenge more – a sifting task –
“Set right side up” is what is asked –

Of us as we live out each day;
In my case, holding up a way
To do a layered-Kingdom life,
Above the blockages and strife.

So Jacques, with his chunked point of view,
With action-ed time-spans (sometimes new),
Has added insight – tunnel shape?
More “Echo-sound” two mountains make.

Thanks Lord for this.
