“Eight Hours At Last” (John chapter 9; Ecclesiastes) [Spanish Jerusalem Bible Series]

I like the contrast which emerges here –
A man born blind, begs – sitting on his rear;
No accident the choice of Spanish words,
Wide use as “Bottom” – life not seen but heard.

We all have limits, blockages to life –
Some physical – as block for man or wife;
But others are quite spiritual – they’re crushed;
Their life’s snuffed out – so they can’t do that much.

As here – the man, humiliated, begs;
Waits on the mercy of the ones with legs,
Who travel ’round like in this sketch of world,
Where photo-types bring flame from smoke that’s curled.

“Is that man not the one who sat and begged?”
Then neighbors asked, “Who now is on his legs,
And enters into life a sighted man?”
Why yes, of course, for Kingdom-living can –

Enable one and all to rise above
One’s handicaps and limits – into love
That pours through one and all once we are fixed,
And Kingdom-layer-life means we’re not nixed.

For story goes Christ chatted with those folks,
Who used to point and laugh (blind; butt of jokes) –
He pointed out that many sighted ones
Are blind as bats, and need His Kingdom-come.

Lord, in this story I hear words of health,
Like inner healing – Kingdom frees to wealth,
Releasing us from obstacles to life
Which block us from progressing with our wife.

“Stu, that’s okay, your healing’s done at last;
Just treatment still remains – it’s over fast –
So take the inter-healing given to you;
Express it now in what you say and do.

“For you’re set free, the next part’s up to you –
The ‘Active-willing’ part I showed as new;
So interact with Me in Spanglish prayer;
Accept delivered parcel you’ve got there.

“Now take it home, unpack its treasured form;
Assemble it; replace the parts now worn;
Learn how to use it as a part of you;
Then plug it in conveying larger view.

“For all this stuff like in ‘Eight Hours’ poem
(Just like Ecclesiastes in the Scripture tome,
Is like a puff of wind, it’s quickly passed),
So you’re set free to follow Me at last.

Okay Lord, thanks for this.
