Impatience Costs Even More (Sun Tzu 3:4) (1 Cor.2:16; 2Cor.10:1-6; Hebrews 6:9-12; 1 Cor.2:16)

Epitome of a disaster,
Is a General who can’t master,
His impatience with preparations,
So anger gets re-iteration.

“Like ants, swarm the ramparts”, he orders,
Bringing soldiers with speed from their quarters,
Who launch an assault in their swarming –
Their leader can’t follow this warning.

One third of his soldiers he’s losing,
When leaders and troops should be snoozing;
The city will stand when retreating,
Objective he will not be meeting.

So ancients when able and skillful,
Were patient not antsy and willful;
They bided their time, not attacking
To win, though their force was not lacking

Subduing to neutralize forces,
Defeat with no loss of resources,
When battle’s avoided, engagement
Is done through some other arrangement.

For cities can also be taken
Without all the siege-engines making;
If you use your mind, do some planning,
You won’t be their battlements ramming.

Protracted attacks on some nation,
Or kingdom, or state federation,
Deplete your resources for fighting –
Results are not very inviting.

In Christ we don’t fight like the nations;
The mind of the Lord of creation
Bids us give some thought to the matter –
Be patient – it’s much better after.
