“Historiography” [War – Sub Series Number One – Reflections on Timothy Snyder’s Book, On Tyranny – Poem #21 – Epilogue]

He wraps things up with men of straw –
(’Course “History” who’s hungry maw
Will eat you if you careless be,
Could serve us well, which we’ll soon see).

Lord, he proposes larger streams,
But plum ignores what banker’s seen –
The shift of GDP in play
From eighty of the present day –

To thirty-five percent for West;
’Course Yanks won’t stand to lose the best,
So war’s begun to ramp on up –
It’s cash that’s King – we’re at the top.

Like “CREAM”, “Cash rules, the saying goes,
All things around” – and so it flows
Into the pocket of my jeans,
Or else it’s hell on earth – which means –

If we don’t get some cash for folks
Now drowning down in steerage, blokes
Will fight indeed – one can’t hoard cash,
And think that peace on earth can last.

It’s all about “Economy”;
Those in behind, no doubt, can see
What’s going on; how rolls the dice
From unseen hand – their para-dice.

Thanks Lord for this.
