A Bad Scene (Luke 34:13-35)

Lord, it is bad for many folks today
As Christmas comes, unlike their former ways
Of childish joy, oblivious to pain,
When laughter, toys, and stockings came again.

Of course, for many parents things were tough –
Protecting kids was done amidst the rough
And tumble of a life such adults lived;
“The least that we can do – let children give”.

Now we’re grown-up, it comes as shock to most
That life’s a challenge – shift from child to host
On festive days, means it’s our turn to play
That all is well – it is for this one day.

You opened Scripture to unseeing eyes
On road that day, hearts burned once more – as skies
Grew dark and sunset came to end day-one –
For light of life into their lives had come.

Lord, in the ending sunset of this day,
As Christmas comes, then folks the piper pay,
Reveal Your Kingdom-layer from days of old,
That we might hear anew – in You, grow bold.

Thanks Lord for this.
