“Aleppo”

Like cube of ice afloat in cup of tea,
I feel Your warmth within;
So cold the fellowship afforded me
Midst evil’s world of sin.

I thank You, Lord, for daily changing me
From road which I was on,
And saving me this year from certain death,
And making new my song.

I thank You Lord there’s other cultures new,
A place to start again;
For I have come so far through mountain pass,
And deepest roads of pain.

Lord, melt this better heart of icy hate,
Forgiveness let me give
To those whose greed has driven me from home,
That I might in You live.

When land of ice and snow is warm to me
Because my heart’s grown cold,
I know I need Your Spirit in my heart,
Lest I, though young, seem old.

Lord, break into my heart, melt walls of ice,
Let Spirit’s warmth prevail;
Until Your spring leads into summer days –
Lest second chances fail.

Lord thanks for this.
