“Stacy’s Words” (Isaiah 40:28-31; Matt. 7:24-27)

“Dig down to rock”, our Savior said one day;
“It’s on that rock you should foundations lay”;
What was that rock of which our Savior spoke?
Reality – and action it evokes.

Too easy is our faith if we won’t see
The fragile part of pix depicting “me”;
For hurricanes of category six
Will strip façades, like shutters, to the quick.

“A six? I thought the scale just went to five;”
It does, but over that not much survives;
“Destruction looks the same from there on in;
So one to five shows where bad storms begin”.

“How great I art” won’t cut it in a storm,
Hence Jesus took a moment out to warn
Us to dig down beneath the shifting sands
Of resumes – venire which comes to hand.

“But I thought Jesus was to be my ‘rock’,
‘Base of foundation’, ‘essence of my talk’;”
He is, but there’s the hitch, “The truth I am –
So find Me ’neath venire of shifting sand.”

For when the storms of life come from the heat
Of daily living, “five” or “six” you’ll meet,
And that will show you quickly what is real,
And what’s pretend – think rock, cement, and steel.

Lord, thanks for Stacy’s words, out from her fear,
Which faces all of us – her Scripture’s clear –
“Fear not”; “I am your rock”; “Foundation strong”;
“It’s Me, not you who moves your life along”.

“So, Stu, what will you do to plug that in?
When will your preps for storm-clouds here begin?
She didn’t say those words, face fragile life,
To entertain – but warn of coming strife.”

Thanks Lord for this.
