"Utmost"  [Reflections On Book Powerlines by Leona Frances Choy - Chapter 05 ,  Oswald Chambers #20/25]

Oswald Chambers was a preacher just before the start of war;
Died in Egypt (was appendix) helping troops as done before
By the chaplains in the forces, on the front lines of some fight –
Broken bodies, lots of illness, crushing weight of wrong and right.

Still “My utmost for his highest” is a catchy phrase these days;
It’s an Oswald Chambers’ saying – gone a century yet sways
Folks who struggle in their spirit, wanting higher, deeper, power,
Both as persons and as churches – long to see seed come to flower.

They see Spirit touching people, then it’s stopped by our desire –
Education, our possessions, creature-comforts of the hour,
At the forefront of our efforts, each a high priority
Better focus is devotion in the Spirit’s unity.

Spirit’s present, we don’t see it, so it’s useless in our work;
Living wholly without Spirit can’t be done, we go berserk;
Holy Spirit knits together body parts with Christ as head –
No great heroes, just one body, each a part when Spirit led.

Oswald Chambers was an artist, then in business at the start,
Then to Bible, soaked in daily, Spirit’s presence was a part –
“Let the Spirit show my motives, shine His light upon myself;
Purify me, knit to with others – how He gets me off the shelf”.

Lord, my photos speak about me, I can’t hide their searching light;
I just fight a losing battle trying to keep myself up tight;
Please release me through Your Spirit into life designed for me,
And the others in my circle, then together live for Thee.

Thanks Lord for this.
