"The Pot Or The Well?" (John 4:44-42) [Reflections On Book Powerlines by Leona Frances Choy - Chapter 16 , Ruth Paxon#23/25]

“So what ’cha want – a pot or well?”
You asked the lady viewed from hell
By others in Your earthly group
You’d left in Spirit-life’s pursuit.

You’d cross the river; dipped in pond,
Baptized that way by “Mikvah-John”;
Then headed north with scene up-turned
Where vendors steamed and anger burned.

You sent the boys for food that day;
You rested by the well, then played
A verbal game – perceiver-chick –
And asked your question – “Which one? Pick!”

So too for us, that query rests
In front of each – “Which one’s the best?
A pot of water? Finite drink?
Or well-stream flowing? What ’cha think?”

For once we’re filled up to the top,
That Spirit-water does not stop,
But rather, flows out to the rest
Until each person’s need’s addressed.

For we, as finite, cannot touch
Extent of need, it’s far too much
For us to handle – Spirit can,
When He can flow through man to man –

Or woman as here, in this case –
“Go fetch your husband – now, make haste!”
“I have no husband”; “Good point there –
Six-pack you’ve had within your lair.

“But, hey – before you fetch them, chick,
Have you become quite tired of this?
You draw your Spirit pot-by-bowl –
How ’bout a well-spring for your soul?

“A source of water deep within;
New source, as you new life begin?”
“Just hold that thought; I’ll fetch the rest,
For You my spirit-need address.”

Lord fill us with that rising flow
Of Spirit-being, that our souls
Might be a channel through our pix
To other lives to thirsting fix.

Thanks Lord for this.
