"Exultation For Big Things" [Reflections On Book Powerlines by Leona Frances Choy - Chapter 3 - Sam Chadwick, #12/25]

When men are strong within, without,
Exhilaration comes about
For things quite big to tackle now,
Like teenage boys with voices loud.

So too when Spirit sweeps into
Our hearts and lives – it’s like we flew
Out of the chute as new-born calf
With heels in air – now free at last.

Sam Chadwick, eight in factory,
As teen got saved, then came to be
A student after twelve-hour shift –
To ministry he made the shift.

Well-crafted talks to no avail,
Left him adrift – how could he nail
This job of preaching Christ in ways
That had effect throughout his days?

Convicted, to the furnace went
His precious sermons – heaven sent
God’s Spirit deep within his life,
With change from darkness into light.

He caught his stride – evangelist –
His precious tomes he did not miss;
Trained others in his way of life;
The Spirit’s ways he brought to light.

He held up different kinds of gifts
For Spirit work; went on from this
To point out “Fruit of Spirit” is
A “garden-crop” for living biz.

He liked the imagery of “fire” –
“Ablaze for God”; “Heat of desire
For Christ – that others know Him too;
Authority, power, and wisdom’s view.”

For me, such drives photography –
To write with light the world we see
Reflected from the things around,
Unseen by most, where Spirit’s found.

Lord, let fruit in Your garden grow,
Maturing, so it then might show
As it grows to maturity,
And it changes deep in us might be.

Help us embrace gifts given to each
For service, as success we teach
The younger folks who follow You
That gifted, they good work might do.

Thanks Lord for this.
