"Havdallah - Where Tomorrow Meets Today"

Well, here we are, Havdallah’s day at last,
The day in which tomorrow meets our past;
The change of week, for Christians, Sunday morn;
For Jews, it’s Saturday God set as a norm.

Whatever, still it’s overlapping day;
Not ours, but God’s, for rest along our way;
Dear Lord, help us to stay on Kingdom-layer;
Abide in You, as we live out our prayer.

Not for ourselves, but those along the way
Who struggle with such issues day to day,
This prayer is spoken, lived – Your love revealed –
Abandonment of kith, and kin, and field.

I thank You for the insight yesterday –
In books I’m doing, Veblen has his say;
Not business as the blind we’ve done to date,
But words You speak to us for Goodness’ sake.

Help us to keep alert to what You mean,
As we encounter here the mean and mean,
That we might cut a trail, see Your way through;
Then take Your this-and-that, do what You do.

Thanks Lord for this.
