“Clear, Honest, And Direct” [Module # 207] (Luke 17:6-18)

Most talk of ours quite twisted is,
And harsh it seems in world of biz;
Tree-hugger types thus lie a lot,
Play endless games with what they’ve got.

They re-distribute other’s’ cash;
They pride themselves, “We have no stash;
What we suck up of others’ stuff
We pass along – for all enough.”

Baloney that, though they can’t see;
It’s socialism – center’s “We”;
Not “Righteous in prosperity”
But, “We are as righteous as can be”.

They love the gray and simple life
With others, will partake in strife;
Quite righteous in their mirror’s gaze,
Confronted, they are shocked, amazed.

They love to hide beneath the cloak
Of secrecy – “I just awoke –
It could not have involved me, no –
As innocent through life I go.

They’re clear and speak right to your face,
It’s lies of course, in every case;
That might seem harsh to other’s ear;
Disruption’s what they each most fear.

Lord, from that swamp I long to leave,
Be done with them – I don’t believe
Their way of doing life for me
Is good at all, so bid my leave.

“Are you involved in rescue, Stu?
Quite willing to engage, and do
What must be done to leave that place?
Or do you wish to shift their case?”

Lord, I don’t think they can be changed;
At best a context re-arranged
Is all that they can hope to get,
With outlook so entrenched – and yet –

You pulled me from that gooey mess;
Redeemed me, helped me see that less
Is not the better lot for all,
So took and shattered social call.

Already I knew other side
Of road where “Rich folks” all reside,
Which left a “Way” between the two,
And call to walk that road with You.

The shape and structure of that Way
Are vague at best – I rise each day
And ask, “Where to, today, O Lord?”
Then listen, quiet, for Your Word.

So now what I am hearing, Lord,
Is “ ’bide in me, obey My Word
And you’ll do fine; it matters not
How much or little cash you’ve got.

“Seek first the Kingdom of your God;
Act on His Word, despite how odd
It seems – keep self apart from all
The stuff folks value since the fall.

“Just dis-engaged – it’s over, Stu,
No more the quagmire you once knew;
If one should ask, just shift the dial
In me – plant seeds, and wait a while.

“It is a life out on the ledge –
Adventure-land; ‘a razor’s edge’;
Not if you ’bide in me of course –
And ’bide your time – avoid remorse.”

Thanks Lord for this.
