Tide Of Love

[Words and music copyright S. Harvey. 2009]

1. Crushed on a beach under piles of debris
There as a child that was all I could see;
I never asked for life such as this:
Breakers rolled in, making so much amiss.

Refrain:
Yes there's a rising tide,
Curled around my soul,
Swept away my past,
Leaving me now whole.
Then it ebbed away,
Quiet – as the sea,
Washing from my life,
All the past debris.

2. As the tide rose, lifted off the debris,
Carried it far – from my past now set free;
Christ took my hand, walked a way down the beach,
Into his love, now I'm far from their reach.

(Refrain:)

3. God's love's a tide sweeping in on the shore,
Circling around us with love ever more;
Filling us up with what's needed to live –
Love overflowing, which now we can give.

(Refrain:)

Bridge:
Then the rising tide which my heart now knows
Rose above my head, and around all those
Who were on the beach in my former days –
For this tide of love, I now sing this praise.

(Refrain:)

4. “But, are you saved?” Yes, the Lord has saved me.
“What are you saved from?” That road – can't you see?
I'm glad God's grace, like a full-rising tide,
Gave me a life and a place to reside.

(Refrain:)
