With soaring health care costs, an aging population, and increasing pollution around us, the concern for preventive and community focused medicine is increasing. The presence of good quality and accessible medical care can make or break a community in the rural or remote areas. Now that farming is estimated to be more dangerous than mining, owing to machinery and chemicals, and large machines, the issues of rural medicine are or critical concern throughout the prairies. Increasingly specialist services are being centralized, and rapid transit through medivac and ambulances are being used in rural areas.
