Autodidactic Learning o Photography, Film and Video Production

Background Context

I was exposed to photography by my parents at an early age and was given the basic supplies and equipment for processing by my grandfather at the end of grade eleven. All of my learning has been self-directed and of considerable depth.

Film and video were learned in this manner over the years as well.

Approach Used

My learning approach has been a blend I later found to be typical of a mix of my three major or dominant "gifts",

Current Status

I am still learning this way, particularly in the work placement course I am currently engaged in , where the focus is on multi camera TV production.

Findings To Date

As I watch the ACC Media program students move much more rapidly through the material I learned experientially over the summer, I realize that there is a lot to be said for full time and thorough training as opposed to autodidactic learning. However I believe there is a place for both methods is some sort of a mix.

Required for Completion

This is an ongoing dimension of my life now in this area. It is never ending, though it is now at a moderately high functional level.
