People Problems Relating to the Transfer of Agricultural Land Transfer
Background Context
While filling with several rural churches who were between ministers, (early 1980's) I became aware of several tangled family relationships owing to the issues related to the transfer of agricultural land between generations. When I had the time, following the end of my term appointments, I did a feasibility study on production of audio visual(s) to facilitate the resolution of these disputes.Approach Used
- I used a snowball approach to interviews with key informants to ascertain:
the nature and scope of the problem
- the felt need for such a tool
- the content which would be considered essential if it was to be of any value
- the format of such a production and guidelines for possible use.
I weighed the likelihood of success with the resulting proposed video production at that time. Current Status
I terminated the project even though an excellent process, content set and production method had emerged. I felt at that time that I did not have sufficient background or resources to complete such a production successfully.Findings To Date
There are many people who can provide rich resources on any subject, and are very willing to assist in such productions, but one must be able to handle them or a great deal of time, effort and money can be wasted. The need has not gone away , and there are still a dearth of resources on he subject.
Lateral Connections
Required for Completion
The research is still on file. To complete such a production, it would require:
- updating of material to reflect current rural conditions, and marketing plan
- securing production crew and talent
- writing or necessary script material
- securing necessary funding and production facilities
- securing appropriate distribution arrangements
- completing production and distribution activities.
