“Joy, Thanks, And Sensitivity” (Psalm 122; Mt.10:17;24:34;5:10; Jn.16:2) [Spanish Jerusalem Bible Series - Psalms sub-series

Three words I hear within this Psalm today –
al-eg-ria (that’s joy) at trip to pray;
And gracias (that’s thanks) as words to God;
Juicio – a word to me quite odd.

It means a place where judgment can be had;
Were sensibility prevails – we’re glad,
For life back home is often twisted up;
So courts sort out the cases which are tough.

Courts are a problem, when not sensible;
When Justice given, is not that practical;
When someone’s hijacked courts for their own use –
That’s when the system fosters gross abuse.

You warned us, Christ, that this can be the case,
For twisted are the ways of human race;
When power and riches can be gained this way,
Then joy and thanks do not describe the day.

That’s why we pray that peace to city come;
In city walls, where justice can be done,
That sensibility might come once more,
And harmony to town that we adore.

Thanks Lord for this.
