“The Points Of Relation” (Job 1:6-12) [[Spanish Jerusalem Bible Series -Job Sub-series] [pandemic series]
I see, this round, where Job and I
Relate, that’s where connections lie –
He was “Hedged in” by God, like me
Back in the church – as clergy, free –To live my life without a hitch,
But soon as door behind went “click”,
I entered into whirl beyond –
’Twas “Fins” not “Pin” that I was on.So satan said to God, re: Job,
“Pull back protection, up his load,
And he will curse You to Your face,
And show quite clear that he’s quite base.”“Okay”, said God, “the playing field.
Will even be – he will not yield;
But do not harm him, just his stash,
And flow of wealth (to us that’s cash).”Lord, in this piece I hear once more,
My struggle-locus – it’s the core
Of issue to me – heritage
Plays in, of course – how to engage –In world of business-finance here?
A struggle, prayer, to make things clear –
With certain knowledge of Your care,
And larger plan for daily fare.I had not seen that – see it now,
How salaries free up somehow,
As others do their labor part –
Where Rabbi Lapin got his start –For he said ‘No’ to salary;
Said he would work on bended knee;
Do both his work and to his flock.
(Both good and bad, is what he got).Round one, and Job lost everything –
Four hits, and he began to sting;
I hear that in my route as well,
With differences, it still was hell.Round two, was hit as “skin for skin”,
Where pain quite deep for Job begins;
Add on no sympathy from wife,
And “Friends” who taunted Job’s pure life –And that was how the yarn set up –
The dialogues were plenty tough,
But in the end You came Your Self,
Said, with old satan you had dealt –Since way back when, and had a plan;
We see more clearly – “Second man”,
Of whom Paul spoke in letters clear,
The end, indeed was now quite near.Lord, now I turn to Your great speech,
I pray through it, as now You teach
Me parts of all this I’d not seen,
You open me and keep me keen.“Okay, there Stuie babe, hang loose;
You’ll see the part that’s cooked your goose;
So stay in Me, I’ll hedge you in,
As we this part about life begin.”Thanks Lord for this.
