“desde (from) la tormenta (the squall)" [Spanish Jerusalem Bible Series - Job sub-series - # Job 38:1] [Pandemic Series]
First clue in this, “Where is God now
As He addresses you somehow?”
For Job, with short, sharp, squall around,
God spoke from storm, Job on the ground.What of temptation’s rushing might
Which overwhelms by day or night?
Do we feel all alone in that
Like God is elsewhere – taking a nap?No – God speaks desde (from) in that,
The point of origin no nap;
He’s at the center of the storm
Of which He’s tried to you pre-warn.That changes everything for me –
Temptation, evil, quite unseen
Crash down on us – pandemic-like,
And terrorize by day or night.So what does this first author say
About the evils of his day
(Or hers, for this is here for all)
Returning exiles? Resource small?When all the world and sky above
Comes crashing in, the God of love
Is present with us in such storms,
Addressing issues as we’re torn –Apart by chaos roundabout,
Midst fear, and failure, crushing doubt
About ourselves and world around –
God’s there, in midst of storm He’s found.Temptation? Why He’s also there
Expressing providential care,
Quite unaffected by the wind
Not us – we’re pummeled, cannot win.And that’s the point – as God points out,
“How are you doing hereabouts?
You can’t withstand the onslaught here;
Take stock, perhaps it’s now made clear.“For ’till you see a problem here
Not for your neighbors living near,
But for yourself – if you’re not stuck –
No need of help from towing truck.”“I got it”, words we like to say
Amidst such storms both night and day,
But that’s not true, we know quite well,
So God speaks to us from such hell.tormenta (Spanish) – short, sharp, storm
Pandemic’s like that – though they warned
Us it would come, the hit was fast –
Not over yet, it’s range is vast.God speaks to all from midst of storms;
We often learn, from there are warned
To change our ways once we survive,
If we, in end, are still alive.Thanks Lord for this.
