valando jantos (Keep Vigil Together)” [Spanish Jerusalem Bible Series - Ephesians sub-series - 6:18]

“Watch over, keep vigil (valando jantos),
Persistently do that especially for those
Like Paul on the front lines of spreading the word
(In prison, pre-trial) that they might be heard.

“Yes, heard in their trials, with lives on the line
But also in prison with little but time
As they think through tactics together with you –
Like Paul, speaking bravely My words that are new.

“For the rhema arises from log loss we read
And rhema’s the sword-word Paul desperately needs;
Pray Spirit of God brings the logos to life
And pray for the courage to share that new light.”

While preacher was preaching upstairs in the hall,
Way down in the cellar in room that was small
Some people were praying that folks really hear
The Spirit of God – that it’s presence was near.

In that, they “Kept vigil” (valando jantos)
Persistently praying, and kept on their toes
Not pulling the mike-cord so no one can hear
But calling on Spirit to drive away fear.

Inter-ce-dien-to (that’s to intercede)
Throw self in between help and desperate need
That’s what Paul here calls for – that you fill the gap
Enabling resource which Saints can then tap.

Here Paul calls for prayer – that he receive word
For opening his mouth, such that he might be heard;
For courage to share of the mystery he holds
As steward in chains – and that he might be bold.

For some of us, “Praying” means taking a risk,
Ensuring the logos is part of Paul’s fist
So Spirit has something to speak through in time –
(Example in Scripture of task that is mine).

It’s not on the front-lines of speaking like Paul,
But getting the word out to Saints great and small;
For in behind leaders who take on the foe,
There’s many at prayer through whom Spirit can go –

In “Packaged assistance”, a team-sport is this –
Like word illustrated as heavenly kiss,
The good news is mystery (now opened in fact),
Which now needs a sharing with others by tact.

So prayer on the front lines, and prayer in behind,
Enables the gospel to move down the line;
A runner needs courage to take to the front
The word for the spokesman who now bears the brunt –

Of hassle and hardship with sword in his hand,
(Palabra de Dios – God’s word, understand);
We pray with our words in the Spirit each day,
But sometimes take logos and be on our way.

For talk is so easy, but when we submit
Our life for addressing some problem, our bit
Might not be that big, though it’s oft hard to do
God’s tasks (“This or that”), “Horse’s nail for the shoe”.

“So ‘Photos for Jesus’– see now how it fits?
If you are my instrument, few can resist
The impact of photos augmenting the text –
Quick read is the method some readers like best.

So let’s take that on, Stu, how be we set out
The words of the Scripture – what they’re all about
In terms folks can gather both surface and deep,
Give me needed context to satan defeat.

Okay Lord thanks for this.
