Palabra – An Error Here In Spanish?” (Matt. 4:1ff; Lk.15:11-32) [Spanish Jerusalem Bible Series - Ephesians sub-series - # 6:10-18 @ 6:12]

Three words in Greek are used for “Word”
(They liked to talk, liked to be heard);
Like types of snow to Inuit
With many names, so type would fit –

Some task in life – like “Igloo chunks”
Wrong type of snow, then bed-time bunks
Had roof collapse – not fun at all –
Specific word prevents the fall.

Palabra , word, is “logos” – Greek
Has that word too – then need it meets
Is “Word in general”, like “Text” –
From A to Zee, the structure best.

The Greeks knew of “Enlivened word” –
Their term was “Rhema” – when we’ve heard
God’s Spirit say to us, “Hear that?
That word’s for you” – alive, not flat.

“Enlivened” words give us a thrill;
No special term? There’s meaning still –
It just takes longer to explain –
Snow types to us; they’re all the same.

When in the text (Palabra word)
God’s “Spirit-life” to us is heard,
We run around (on Facebook share)
What’s live to us – what we’ve heard there.

The Greeks’ third term (for word that’s shared),
Is “phimi” – spoken (some, prepared);
Pro-phimi we have heard before –
To speak for (God) – “Prophet” – a sword –

Applied by one to people sway;
But rhema-swords have many ways
To be applied in world around –
“With rhema – (sword-word) now be found”.

Here Paul, in Greek, says sword is “Word”
(Palabra, “Text as whole’s” absurd);
He said, like type of snow to choose,
To build this igloo – rhema use.

That is, Palabra will not work –
Don’t venture out and be a jerk;
Read text and let the Spirit raise
It’s word for your specific ways.

Now that’s a sharpened word indeed!
That to-edged sword, then Spirit feeds
Into your life – of use to you!
Take up that word, of it make use.

Thanks Lord for this.
