“les he mendodo…(The Things I Mentioned To You)” (Matt.28:18-20) [Spanish Jerusalem Bible Series - Lortie November 2019]

What to teach the newbies here?
“To guard all things” – that much is clear –
“I mentioned to you” – that’s a hoot
Les he mendado lays the route –

For us to take, to carry on
Where they left off – we can’t go wrong
By teaching those we’ve baptized here
To guard all this – as they draw near –

To learn what Jesus “Mentioned” there –
Far less oppressive when compared
To “Taught you” – bringing vision in
Of school rooms; chalkboards; “You can’t win”.

Lord, here I’m hearing, “Lighten up –
Don’t make curriculum so tough!
Good news it is, fill it with joy;
My Kingdom’s come for girls and boys –

“Who weary are from grace-less life
Of obstacles; and lack of light;
So “Mention” also, like I did –
Share “Tips and tricks” as mentors give”.

The Spanish use mistaken tense –
The Greek’s past participle, hence,
It’s “Having gone” into the world,
Which fits with “Mention”, Spanish word –

Not “Go” as in imperative,
But “Having gone” – once there, then give
These goodies out, and teach them to
Guard in their hearts My words – like you.

Thanks Lord for this.
