“Micro-Foe” [Reflections on Ralph D. Sawyer's Translation of One Hundred Unorthodox Strategies - Battle Tactics of Chinese Warfare #91-92]

A micro-foe with small resource
Or numbers – could be you, of course,
Is best to leave alone if they
Break camp and hurry on their way.

For if they turn, fight desperately,
Like wasps that sting – though small they be,
They cause you problems, so hang back
And let them flee, do not attack.

If it is you, create some doubt
In other side – “Force size” about
To be there foe – deception’s way
In battle, don’t be easy prey.

Lord, that is us, so often here –
Perhaps reverse is somewhat clear –
Don’t think that evil massive is;
It’s empty fluff in home or biz.

If I’m impoverished – who cares?
If I’m in doubt how our side fares,
Perhaps it’s best to leave with You
Directions for what we should do –

And not obsess about the odds;
It’s not our issue – it’s more God’s;
So what the heck, engage, in You,
With task at hand, You’d have us do.

Thanks Lord for this.
