“Morning Prayer” (1 Jn.4:18)

A perfect love, the Good Book says quite clear,
Casts out in us that creeping sense of fear;
The situation’s not spelled out, I see,
Which lets my life, press on to victory.

As obsolescence creeps relentlessly,
And failing health can quite annoying be,
Declining impact happens day by day –
Which forces focus on the things that pay.

That is, we choose our next priorities
With great precision, as this time we seize,
And do the things You see, for us to do,
Which impact evil – task assigned to You.

Lord, as I start this dawning day anon,
I pray You fill my heart with victory’s song,
That those around me sense Your energy
Of love cast out the fear, which they can see.

Lord, there’ll be many in the church today
Who struggle as they seek to know Your way
Through difficulties great and small, indeed –
I pray You intervene, help them through me.

Thanks Lord for this.
