“Misdirection” [Reflections on Ralph D. Sawyer's Translation of One Hundred Unorthodox Strategies - Battle Tactics of Chinese Warfare #63-64]

When “Near” is focus, fake is “Far”,
And vicie-versa, where you are
Can be a target – “Middle” watch
Lest midpoint gets its forces squashed.

Like crossing rivers, great divides,
The “Feint” or deke is often tried
Like football field – go left, go right;
By day or night stay out of sight.

Lord as I flip this part around,
I hear Your caution – “Don’t be found
Apart from Me, for I can see
The far and near – alerting thee –

“To what is coming down the pike,
Regardless if its day or night;
But even more, show what to do
With Satan’s tactics, old or new.”

But, once again, to me the best
Is understanding all the rest –
Like how You act from day to day
As I flip ’round how satan plays –

And then look closer at Your word
For other options not observed;
When looked at straight, as often done
This way has opened up the fun.

For fun it is, indeed, O Lord,
As You give ways You can be heard
In situations twisted up
By satan’s antics, often rough.

Like when resistant folks around
Are needing kindness, I have found
The “Near” and “Far” are useful here –
For misdirection field can clear –

So they don’t see from whence I come;
Sometimes they can’t see I’m the one
Whose slipping assets in their space,
Quite unbeknownst to them – one case –

I had was fellow I once knew
Things weren’t quite adding, two plus two –
Thought I was swiping asset-base;
Quite the reverse – I’d boost his case –

When he was looking far from me;
It’s giver-finance antics – we
Prefer to silent be with gifts,
Long as it then some burden lifts.

For if a gift is noticed, it
Just doesn’t “Count” – a game a bit –
So thank You, Lord, for gifts of love
You give through us, midst push and shove.

Thanks Lord for this.
