“Trust” (Is.58:11;Mt.5:43-48;Jer.9:4; 17:5; Lk.10:29ff;Gen.4:9) [Reflections on Ralph D. Sawyer's Translation of One Hundred Unorthodox Strategies - Battle Tactics of Chinese Warfare # 21-22B – #6/10]

He says it right, “Don’t trust, you fool;
Yourself, the least, though it seems cool
To trust, and be trustworthy too,
You go that way, and you’ll get fooled.

Our task is love – help others live;
If needed, life to others give;
But trust’s reserved for God above;
On Kingdom-layer, receive His love –

And pass it on when asked of you
By Him, He has the larger view;
So life lived out effectively
Is done through you efficiently –

Not in the short-term, which we know
(Or think we do, in life below),
But in the best way there can be –
Our lives laid down for brother’s need.

“I’m not my brother’s keeper”, said
The man, once by his hand lay dead
His brother – rather he should say,
“I’m brother’s brother – all the way”.

So trust of self and other folks,
Is ill advised, more like a joke
We tell ourselves – it’s more like “Risk
Assessment” – that will issue fix.

For we must always be alert
As trickster slithers in the dirt;
As innocent as lambs in-indeed,
As we address each brother’s need.

Thanks Lord for this.
