“I’d Rather Be... A… B...The Kingdom View” (James 2; 4:1; Gen.2-3; Eph. 5:22; Gal.3:28;Eccl.7:25ff ) [#1/3 – Relationship Subset]

“I’d rather be a Christian than a man”
A line I hear repeatedly – “I can
Be one, and not the other, but for me,
My choice is one of preference, certain-ly.

“For one thing I don’t have to change that much –
Hypocrisy, I mean – my life is such
That clearly in society they say,
That women are quite innocent – so hey! –

“What’s not to like about that role in life?
As growing girl, or even as a wife –
The guys are wrong; and evil; cause the pain;
I’m innocent as lamb – like Jesus – slain.

“Society ’round here says that the chicks
Are not the issue – men are better pick
For cause of all the evil that we see;
They’re into war (and fighting over me).

“Not me – why I’m peace-loving as can be –
Protector of the fetus, can’t you see?
My mother-instincts flow like milk to all;
Hard-done-by; mother-courage ’gainst the wall.

“For I know ‘Right ‘from ‘Wrong’, it’s we who choose
Such things; and say exclusively – ‘You lose’
To anyone impeding progress now
(For us, of course); and we will show you how –

“To multi-task in dissipation’s way –
Like Christian church is often seen today –
A little bit of everything around;
Not much of anything – for it’s been ground –

“Into the ground – male-dominated jerks;
Misogynistic, scrappy, and berserk;
It’s not we like oppressor overthrown –
We want to be oppressor in that zone.

“So yes, the role of women in the church
As Christians, leaves the men quite in the lurch;
But if they want, they can come out to see
What changes they must make to be like me.”

Thanks Lord for this.

“I’d Rather Be A…” (James 2; 4:1; Gen.2-3; Eph. 5:22; Gal.3:28;Eccl.7:25ff ) [#2/3 – Relationship Subset]

“I’d rather be a Christian than a chick –
Hypocrisy would be worst part of it;
At least in war we’re upfront ’bout the task –
It’s all about the push and shove – ‘Kick ass’.

“The endless gossip, claws like cats in heat;
Give me the business world, where end’s to beat
The crap out of our neighbor down the street,
And make no bones about our mighty feat.

“It’s King of mountain – get all that you can,
Can all you get, sit on the lid, as man
With guns and ammo, shoot up all the rest;
If you can’t have it, scorched-earth works the best.

“Sun Tzu, whose Art of War book is the tome
Idealized by men who feel at home
In world of push and shove, the mean and mean,
Is with our business heroes often seen.

“My single-minded focus, just like Christ,
Gets job done tout-de-suite, without advice
From others who stand by and criticize –
Like Jesus – got the job done, with his guys.

“Cut to the chase; don’t beat around the bush;
Step to the plate; don’t sit there on your tush;
Forgiven; do your best; and play the man;
God helps the ones who help themselves, who can –

“Give good account of what they’ve taken on;
Like many Seals, and crew that dropped the bomb –
They’re quite up front on methods, and their goals –
Destroying people, things, or saving souls –

“By clearing out the trash-humanity
With burning-stakes and genocide, you see,
It’s dog eat dog; and Alpha’s in the pack;
Like Caesar, Pilate, Judas – just the facts –

“Are what is needed in the church today –
A focus, and the energy to sway
Society away from world of chicks,
To manly ones – that’s what it takes to fix –

“The church and world – hey wouldn’t it be nice
To go back to the days of ‘sugar, spice’,
Where girls were girls, and men-folk ruled the roost?
Okay, perhaps without the sex abuse.”

Thanks Lord for this.

“The Kingdom View…” (James 2; 4:1; Gen.2-3; Eph. 5:22; Gal.3:28;Eccl.7:25ff ) [#3/3 – Relationship Subset]

The Kingdom views relationships
As partnership with fatal twist;
Like everything in world gone wrong,
It’s sort-of right – so, hence, my song –

1. A smokescreen in a time of war
Lets each combatant make a score
Against their foes, unseen by most
(Out in the open, they’d be toast).

2. Each side feels it must demonize,
At least speak out to criticize
The others’ flaws – though it can be
That what I say, says much of me.

3. A lot of what we know, is given
To us by folks who seem quite driven
To have us bend to social sway,
And buy some local culture’s ways.

4. Some differences genetic are,
Or seem to be – some don’t get far
Into P.C.’s “Acceptable”,
Though time makes things respectable.

5. The other’s problems, any cause,
We’re quick to spot, so seldom pause
To ask about what’s going on –
See time for chat as long-since gone.

6. Half-truths abound – we like the halves
That help us out, which pour some salve
Upon our wounds, where ego’s bruised;
Though “Victim” role has greater use.

7. We like the Scripture’s airy words,
Where we can roam, thoughts quite absurd
(Not ours, of course – those other guys’
For our thought’s deep, and clear our eyes).

8. A man and woman are a mix
Who complement, each other fix,
Not by exchanging problem-types,
But stepping back, in tag-team fights.

9. Two genders level out the tone
Of both – unbalanced is the zone
Where all of one or other are –
Different effects – but both bizarre.

10. One gender’s using power-moves
On other, shifts; so it behooves
Both to step back, oppression drop;
And with our partners start to walk.

Thanks Lord for this.
