“The Dupe” (Jn.8:44) [Reflections on Ralph D. Sawyer's Translation of One Hundred Unorthodox Strategies - Battle Tactics of Chinese Warfare # 21-22B – #10/10 ]
If you are fearful of some outcome here,
So like to delegate to those quite near,
You’ll be a dupe, sucked into others plans,
And it tricked you’ll be, as trickster, laughing stands.Relying on the goodwill of some kin,
And taking word from them ’bout fix you’re in,
Is asking for a whack across the head;
At best, more likely you’ll quite soon be dead.No, “Self-reliance” is not answer here,
But rather, “Body-life”, for Christ makes clear
The tasks He’d have us do, within the range
Of what, by grace, can happen (though quite strange)For evil is His foe, not man as such;
We’re like a kid stuck in the mud so much,
That we need help – He rescues us when asked;
Addressing “Mud” as “Problem” is His task.So when we turn our leadership to Him,
We can on larger project then begin;
Of course, responsibility is part,
But letting Jesus tell us when to start –And how, and where, takes burden from our souls;
The “What” and “Why” are part of Jesus’ goals;
He acts, then we respond as we are fit –
“Response-ability” is key to it.Thanks Lord for this.
