“Drill Time” (Eph.4:6,11 ;Phil.4:8;Lk.6;31;1Cor.13) [Reflections on Ralph D. Sawyer's Translation of One Hundred Unorthodox Strategies - Battle Tactics of Chinese Warfare #10]

In school we mimicked drills of war –
“Turn left, turn right, be as before”;
Just like the training of a dog –
One mind, one body, does one job.

If one can’t sit, stand still, advance;
Join up, disperse, at signals glance,
Then such results in needless loss,
As untrained, into war you’re tossed.

Lord this is what I note from You –
You mentored, “Four, twelve, seven-two”;
Trained trainers how to train down-line,
So when you died they’d make out fine.

How far we’ve gone from mode you used,
And think that we are so abused
When trouble comes from war around;
When unified, and training’s sound –

We’d do much better in the fight
You are engaged in – Scripture’s right –
We must choose sides; then get in line
With body-one to make out fine.

Lord, this says we should well equip
The folks we mentor – show them tips
On how to act within Your band
Of body-one, as one we stand.

Lord, C.E. never was like this –
No overarching goal exists
Within our living structured way;
Please open us to role each plays.

Thanks Lord for this.
