“Janus” (Joshua 24:15; Hebrews 3:13; Matthew 4:1ff; 16:25; Mark 7:6; Luke 11:44 and 12:56; 2 Timothy 4:10) [Reflections on Sun Tsu's Art Of War #13-1–C-3]
It’s said that Janus two-faced was –
One forward, backward – that’s because
Progressive into future one,
Regressive other – what’s been done.A double-agent thinks that way –
The life ahead, behind, who says
That one will win the other lose;
What’s in between? His life, so choose –He must in time in double-game;
His only choice – both end the same
For once he’s caught, there’s little room
To move around, so death’s quite soon.With promises and heavy bribes
He’s lured away to changing sides;
But only side he’s really on
Is his – to living he belongs.He might go home and send back tips,
And info, but because he sits
On fence between two enemies,
Who knows which side he’ll try to please.False info could flow either way,
Or both – for who can truly say;
Detached from service? Serving both?
Which statement’s true, reflecting oath?Lord, reconciling could be done,
But in Your case that’s not the one
Which is an option – dark and light
Don’t overlap – as day to night.So choose one must in game of life;
No double-dealing in this fight,
For lure of riches, power to boot,
Are factors here for all, forsooth.I’m hearing in this larger scheme,
Ideas float – what people mean
Needs close discernment – Spirit’s way –
Don’t simply buy what people say.For this is in temptation’s realm;
There’s real danger – at the helm
Of two great forces, stand two foes;
The way of each to each oppose.And us? We get to choose a side;
No way in life we get to hide;
“Choose you this day whom you will serve;
It’s God for us – you have My word.”Thanks Lord for this.
