“Caught In The Ice”

The ships of yore, caught in the ice,
Were stranded there, food would suffice
Or not – the lead from early ‘tins’
Killed off one batch of men within –

The hold of ship hung up this way –
Which brings to mind what I must say –
That ICE in USA today
Spawns riots like in old LA.

It seems that Trump called in the troops
‘To help them out’, but it took route
Which crossed the Constitution-lines;
The folks rebelled, which suited fine –

Those folks who drafted up his plan
(That's ‘25’), he sees as grand,
But is appalling (what I’ve heard),
To outside ears is quite absurd.

O Holy Spirit, You led to me
To see some friends, who used to be
Engaged in helping me to see
Farm economics (new to me!)

He helped me sort that tangle out;
Two decades passed on different routes,
And now You had me look them up
To see if his book had been stuck.

We talked about ‘AI’ with it,
And bottleneck – how it might fix,
To set free insights into life
Of economics in Your sight.

I broached the subject of a zoom
To keep his voice, while giving room
To make it all fall into place;
Updated as in "Kubler" case.

For interest drops when "satisfice"
Sets in for one and all – quite nice
To see – so he might do his thing
With inmates caught in local sting.

“Of all the targets, which is one
You care more for – once you’d begun
To comprehend the mess down south​?
What message needs to pass your mouth?”

“Why, economic policy –
Is what we need to have folks see;
It’s off the rails – it’s leaders task
To set things right, now that you ask.”

He mentioned “Watchmen” and their tome;
Read “Manifesto” from his phone;
As well the “Battle Creek” wee yarn –
“Hey post man – who runs honest farm?”

So, rhubarb pie with ice cream top,
From wife, for us – now that was tops!
Caught up on family goings-on
And prayer before we moved along.

So, Holy Spirit, thanks for this;

Confusing to them, as I do).

“Three weeks out, then I’m free to talk
About past work (and why I walked)”;
He read a Revelation piece,
“Lamb speaks like Dragon” (or some beast).

But most of all, stuck in the ice
Was book he’d done – which was quite nice;
They called, since out of print, to do
“An update (for one grand) – for you”.

But he’d moved on – I saw her flag –
A warning waved, like race-cars have –
Ah! Giver and Compassion clash –
Tripwire for them when market asked!

I beat retreat, but had a thought –
Set such folks free, so they can talk
Through media, no need for me
To "bark" if pups around I see.

So kick the rock from wagon wheel,
And let it roll – no need to steal
Their thunder – Ten Commandments key
I guess – help him to “hockey” see.

But that’s my interest – business types
Need hockey models, make things tight
And fast; but not so much upstairs
In policy and such affairs.

I said no interest in his cash;
To get it “unstuck’s” what I asked
But harm was done – straight unbelief
Was hers – like book’s “three kinds of thief”.

So it's exchange if health is there –
What best to ask to this repair?

Had all backed off, quick had enough;
This was a re-write, update, piece,
Where others also gave release.

So, “stuck in ice” indeed is here;
