Reflective Response to "Bible - 101"

Posted With Permission

The following reflective response to my presentation of "Bible-101" came from a friend and fellow writer, who, to me, exemplifies somebody who faced her own involvement in the Bio-Agri-Research industry as a researcher, and decided she did not want to continue in that line of work, but rather, turn her research skills to finding better solutions to our current world community's issues. Debby works privately on her own research projects.

If presentations are suppposed to make people think, then this is an interesting example of one person's response to the Youtube presentation...which in turn has given me so much to think of as well.

I asked her if I could add it to the presentation page, and she agreed, sending me a clean copy to post.

Although my site is deliberately not designed for conversation, I post it in the hope that her mini-presentation response will add to your thinking as well.

So, thanks, friend, for your thoughts and creative involvement in our world community.

Cheers,
Stu

Hi Stu
This morning I watched your video on the Bible 101, as always it was filled with layers of meaning! I will definitely watch it again. I am intrigued by your massage of applying the practical. I was just discussing this with my husband on the way to Portage la Prairie last night…before I watched your video. I recognize, how important it is for me to be applying what I am learning on a practical level. Yet, I always wonder how, as I embrace my human adventure!

The one volume commentary…very interesting…I will check out this book! (What is the actual title of the book?) I do appreciate the Cree approach you discussed in your sermon. It is a great way to empower others. Your story also shows how adaptable you are to change. How you can see the big picture and how you assist others in the ways that are best for their individual needs. This is a great way to help others while growing and developing yourself.

I watched the YouTube video you mentioned, “Former World Bank President: Big Shift Coming.” He put into words a feeling I have yet was unable to put into words. I am thankful for his focused words and his intention to make developed countries aware of the population shift coming our way. While going to university, I was lucky to attend an international department, as I loved to learn about different cultures. In my experience, the international students were inspiring and opened my eyes to a world foreign to me. Over the course of their studies, there was many times when they never really knew what was going on at home. In their home lands, there was political instability. Also Mother Nature was not always kind. Some students waited in terror while their family endured the mud slides in Pakistan or the Tsunamis of Sri Lanka. I could not imagine how stressful it was to study abroad while your family was enduring dramatic adversities.

After watching the tube video, it made me wonder, how could I, my children or grandchildren compete in a world where the demographics of our population is rapidly changing. With this dramatic expected shift, soon the majority of the population will come from overcrowded impoverished countries where the people are dedicated to work hard due to generational hardships, often experienced in unethical and unfair conditions. These misfortunes and adversities are not something we in North America can even begin to understand. Is there a potential that our future generations will be outcompeted in job situations?

You also commented on the current political drama in the USA. I must admit I watch the media coverage surrounding the current political situation and I am dishearten. When I hear Trump speak, I am often left speechless. He appears to be a bully and I wonder about the people supporting is demeaning chatter. If he is elected, what humanitarian efforts would he bring to the table? Sure Trump says his economic plan would deliver 25M jobs in 10 years. Who would be working hard to fill these jobs? Not likely Americans whose families have lived in the USA for many generations. I think there could be a possibility many people might consider these new jobs are not up to their standards. I gathered from the comment about your USA friend that the people supporting Trump are people having difficult times surviving in the current USA conditions. This group of people were classified as “canaries”. They sound disillusioned with the “American Dream or the land of milk and honey.”

Being a curious soul, I researched Trump’s early years to help me gain some insight into his nature. It seems, from a young boy he was very competitive and always fought against anyone to see himself come out on top. He appears not to be a team player and his parents decided to send him away to military school. I am concerned, he may be working from an Ego based mind set. I don’t see how an ego run country will empower the people within and lead them from the shadows into the light. It is so scary to see the best two candidates for President of United States acting inappropriately. Although I too investigated into Hilary Clinton’s formative years. I was happy to see she was a strong supporter of women and children’s rights. Her graduating class, nominated her to be the first student valedictorian in the universities history. During her education there she was not afraid to work hard and help others. I really like this about her. She may not always have done what others believed right but she was never afraid to stand up and help people. She is also a strong supporter of making our planet greener for future generations.

However, I have no real idea who funded the sites I researched or the media programs I watched. We Canadians are powerless as “Big Brother” struts & spews, keeping us off balance with no idea what is fact or fiction. Do we need to prepare ourselves for a big curveball that is going to be thrown our way?

Over the years, travelling through the US & Canada has made it apparent that in many parts of North America, Aboriginal and Caucasian cultures are being replace by growing populations from other countries. Loving to learn about other cultures, I am drawn to these areas. Yet, visiting some of these area has left me with a scary feeling of uncertainty. Watching the media coverage after Trudeau was elected scared me. Oh, I am not talking about the words spoken but of the scenes I saw in the background, the faceless bystanders behind the scenes. For instance, I am recalling watching young East Indian men in Vancouver acting out. To me, it was really scary! If they felt it was okay to act in that manner while the cameras were rolling, what was actually happening in their communities. What talk was happening in their homes to provoke such mannerisms? Much like the Trump supporters acting out in his debates and rallies. Bullying, name calling and patronizing others is not how I feel respectful North Americans should behave. I am worried about negative minded, or egocentric individuals taking over. People with contracted limiting beliefs can come from anywhere but please let’s not let them be in positions of power.

My hope for the future is that a diverse population will be able to united in expansive ways. I hope and pray people in power will always be respectful, peaceful, compassionate, and love Mother Earth. If the scenario discussed by the former world banker comes to light, I am fearful the world I grew up in will not be here for my future descendants to enjoy. What does this mean for their future and the planet as we know it?

Will our children and grandchildren be able to compete in this new world? Generalizing, our kids have learned with instant gratification, been indulged, spoon fed and have no idea what it means to lack. Will the they be able to survive when the chips are down? Being a peace loving and compassionate person, I may have sugar coated the world and not prepared my family for the future in this dramatically changing world. I believe in the bible and its teachings. I don’t understand the morals and ethics of suicide bombers who are so willing to die for their cause. I have great difficulty watching the news. When I do, I am scared because I don’t understand the plight of these unlucky canaries.

Yet in some ways I see myself, my health issues as a symbol parallel to that of a canary. We, North Americans, have allowed Monsanto, big Pharma & many big food companies to jeopardize our health. We are living at a time where it is predicted we will outlive our children. With Monsanto being bought out by Bayer, I am even more cautious about the plight of the health of our WORLD. This concern if further amplified because in the last year, 60 plus holistic doctors & visionaries have mysteriously died.

The environmental, economic & social issues throughout the world are begging for mankind to stop, look & listen. Mother nature needs us to unite, yet the interconnected web of crisis around the globe is distracting beings with differences among religion, race, culture and natural disasters. As humans, we are strong because we are diverse and have dispersed all over the world. We have learned to survive and live everywhere. Now, is not the time to hide in our bubble. We need to see the world as the center of a wheel…like the hula-hoop you dropped on the floor. Around the circle are all the distinct nations of the world, looking at the hub, our planet or universe. We all have a unique and interesting perspective. How can we unite to save the world? Sure we all come have different cultures, countries and religions, nevertheless, I pray and hope we can focus on a common life goal…to create a safe and healthy WORLD for our descendants to enjoy. I am hoping your sermon has inspired others to see the big picture, as we approach the winter! I am concerned! Maybe that is why I am dramatically taking action and transforming my knowledge at this time of my life. Yes, I am still stuck in the researching and learning mode. I need to get practical, so I can help make a difference!

I am recalling a paper I wrote in grade 8..."No man is an Island and man will be the death of man.” Scary, how I don’t see how we have progressed. Why is it so important for me to study other religions, resources (food), energy medicine and alternative health practices from around the world. I am hoping one day soon God will help me to understand how I fit into this humanitarian interconnected web?

I am very grateful I was able to watch your sermon at home. My private viewing, allowed me to delve into the Bible 101 at a much deeper level…for me it might be religion 101 or humanity 101. Thanks Stu! As always your words inspire me to dig deeper into my own potential! You also gave me a tool, a practical tool. I can show my banking family the YouTube video and start a conversation. Hopefully the discussion, will help them to understand me and why I am not giving up researching my interests. May they too will unite with me to help create a future full of possibility! Hopefully, we will see a domino effect and spur like-minded, expansive people around the world unit to create a peaceful world! May mothers (people) all over the world be able to live in a safe world to empower the world’s best natural resource, the children of the world…with love, light, peace and limitless ease! Thanks for starting the conversation!

Forever grateful,

Debbie Burgess
