"Feed And Release"  [Module #47] (Mark 6:47)

There – halfway twixt two awful towns,
Christ fed the group, once sitting down
In groups of hundreds, fifty, more,
They shared the lunch of kid next-door.

So what’s the tip for us today,
As we disciple in our way?
Don’t try to feed a group en masse,
But smaller parts there on the grass.

Sun Tzu said working larger groups
Is like the smaller teams of troops;
Just break them into bands that size,
And let community arise.

For in a mob there is no form;
For all, there’s but a single norm;
With smaller groups there’s local ways
To meet the needs which rise today.

Take Prairie Provinces today –
Time was they thought a better way
Was let them all one province be;
“No way – too big a block they’d be –

“Within our nation – break them up;
Two blocks down East of power’s enough”;
And what a blessing that has been –
Three flavors where one might have been.

And so with schools throughout the zone;
And churches, clubs, our many homes
And families, tribes, clans, and groups –
There’s place for small, with diverse roots.

Of course, when small gets out of hand,
Like passing farmers’ tools and land
Too many ways – land’s much too small
To feed the farmers’s kids at all.

So, tip is ’bout community –
That we can fellowship, and feed
Folks who in life of day to day
Find where they live a troubled way.

For in their towns bad attitudes
Need changing to Beatitudes;
“So work in smaller groups”, Christ said,
And in the end they’ll all be fed.

So why connect these notions up?
Beatitudes and sermon stuff
Was taught at first on that same hill;
Now – how to let all have their fill?

Bad attitudes from in our towns
Go with us when we move around;
Blessed attitudes learned far from home
Return when we no longer roam.
