Failure To Reassess [Fawcett #16] (Matthew 19:29-34; Luke 13:31-35)

In days before the Gettysburg debut,
Two armies marched around, but neither knew
The other’s whereabouts, or how they stood
In face of battle coming – bad or good.

Lee knew he had the men for one more fight,
But leadership was fading, troops weren’t tight,
But scattered ’round a thousand miles square,
With cavalry now gone to who knows where.

News from one spy alerted him that day,
The Yanks proceeded north while mountains lay
To east of him, which screened each other’s view;
He needed to regroup, formation new.

So ninety-K of Yanks proceeded north;
While Lee could with his seventy bring forth
Enough for climax to this last campaign –
But needed to pull back and think again.

Sun Tzu said to win the battle, then go fight;
Said Jesus, “If you’re blind, receive your sight”;
From Herod, Jesus beat a quick retreat,
Until prepared to His opponent meet.

So stop and reassess what’s going on –
The state of your resource – what now is gone?
Though one-in-God is a majority,
It’s up to us to see reality.
