The Point (Matthew 16:21; Isaiah Chapter 31)

So what’s the point – our use of cash?
To have it hold? Give out, then ask
God to provide some more for us
To pass along, relieve some fuss?

I think it’s in that power thing
The answer lies, so truth now rings
Like bell that’s tolling in my brain –
“We want His power to flow again –

“Within our world – but we don’t feel
God using us, although we kneel
Before Him morning, noon, and night” –
How can we set things back to rights?

The problem is quite simply seen
In reed selected, which we lean
Upon to get along in life –
Our source of power in calm and strife –

For it’s not God who is the power
We trust in Satan’s tempting hour –
It’s “anything but God” we say,
As we from Eden walk away.

That ruler’s problem wasn’t cash,
But more, reliance on his stash;
“ Dump that – just walk away, you’ll view
The road you seek – what’s ailing you”.

That’s what Christ said to him that day,
“That broken reed which is your stay
And comfort in the stormy night –
Let go – take hold of God, so right –

“Side up your life will be once more;
Just walk away – there’s life galore
If you’ll stop trusting in your cash –
For you, your problem is your stash”.

Well, maybe that’s not us today;
Some other reed for us is stay
And comfort in the whirl or calm,
In Gilead provides our balm.

It matters not – what e’er it is
It’s frail indeed – like in our biz –
It’s not the cash which brought us here,
But trust in God, despite our fear.

Thanks, Lord.
