Scope And Scale (Sun Tzu 5:1) (Isaiah 5:26-30; chapter 13; 1 John 3:21-24; Matthew 28:20; John 14:15-31; 1 Samuel Chapter 3)

Fighting itself is built on good command;
That is, it follows like an arm the hand;
If managed well, and organize to fight,
All will go well as daytime follows night.

Troops must be trained, responsive to commands;
With many troops they each must understand
Their smaller groups, which act in unity,
And guidance take from signals which they see.

Handling the men when few or larger groups,
Is just the same, with sub-divided troops;
Then, when they fight, those sub-groups once again,
Work as a team – to larger force they lend –

Collective skills, responsive to commands;
Together blend their strength, and take a stand;
Each smaller part a section of a form,
Each form well-knit – effective in storm.

Both signal and commands are part of life
In Jesus – for the followers of Christ,
Commanded are – “To each show love and care”
“I’ll send the Holy Spirit with you there –

“And He will teach and guide you in your way”,
Like Samuel as a child heard Spirit say
A message for old Eli in the night –
Commands take many forms, like signal-lights.

Isaiah pictured God quite riled up;
He called upon the neighbors to get rough
With Israel, when they stepped out of line;
His “Day” for some would not be pleasant time.

So, scope and scale must needs be factored in –
First management in squads ’fore you begin;
Then squads of squads, and so forth ’till the size
Is huge – which matters not, where structure lies.
