Out-Bungle The Enemy (Fawcett number 7) (Ephesians 5:18; Prov.20:18; Matt. 10:16; 2 Tim.4:2; Eph.4:11-16)

As luck would have it for the King,
Incompetence, with rain, would bring
A victory he had not won,
But lucked into once French had run.

Outnumbered four to one, surprised
(He’d sent no scouts to be his eyes),
French dawdled, lost one day’s surprise,
Dismounted knights – demoralized –

By flanks (protected in the trees)
Of archers raining arrows – pleased
To wipe out thousands ’fore the fight –
Incompetence destroyed the knights.

The Frenchman fled to Paris and then;
Their King was caught – put in a pen
For five years, ’till they ransomed him
With treaty rights to Englishmen.

It’s not the English were that smart,
Though better set to battle start;
It’s more the French blew every chance
To win the fight, their state enhance.

So, sometimes we luck-out all right,
But mostly we must wisely fight;
Depending on stupidity,
Is stupid too – which soon we see.

Christ said, “Be being filled, my friends”,
“Be wise as serpents” lest the end
Of freedom, life, and wholeness, come
To you from tactics which were dumb.
