One Among Many (Luke 18:8)

One among many is what we will find,
Sharing our money, our faith, or our mind;
We’re not alone in this grouping of man,
More we contribute the best that we can.

God doesn’t work through one channel alone,
We know for certain, not just in this poem;
Scripture, and action, and prayer we find,
Open three channels for God to our minds.

Like a piano when moving day comes,
Six hefty fellows – quite smoothly it runs;
If one is freed from the load he will know,
Somebody else has his burden in tow.

Best to ease back, let the weight readjust,
Though it is hard, we feel ‘no’, but we must;
Weight re-distributes to others above –
Cash, faith, and concept, conveying God’s love.

Now that I’m older and wiser a bit
(Having life-lessons through taking some hits),
I am reminded that nothing has changed,
’Cept that the flow of God’s love’s rearranged.

Lord, keep me faithful as I push on through;
Keep my head open to concept that’s new;
Keep my heart open to others around,
When You return, that Your faith may be found.
